what we learn from ppd

                       WHAT WE LEARN FROM PPD

We are going to end of the year with a lot of memories in 2018. We learnt lot of things from them. When  i talked about my university life,we can not talk without  PPD. Because it had a amazing memories with us. PPD is just not a subject such as other subjects(programming). in my academic life they  always pressured  me. Because we need to do tute, assignment, presentation, viva bla bla. If we got some freedom in our academic it should be PPD. Actually  everyone loved PPD. we learnt so many things for life. We could improve our soft skills.

                           As i remembered, Madam never gived us to do task individually. every activities are group activities. I think it's very important our carrier life. As a software engineers we have to work with a team. Therefore we need to learn how to work with a team. that experiences madam try to give us. It should be succeed.

 in my personal life  i have a stage fear  but could avoid these barriers via PPD session. We got lot of experience in our PPD session throughout 2 years. Thank you so much Sarasi madam for you have done everything. You did it well.

Finally i want to tell you something  

  Great inventors and leaders are not born. They are motivated and inspired to do great things by great teachers like you.... Thank you

        

CV writing

                               HOW TO WRITE A CV

Last PPD session we talked about very important matter of “HOW TO WRITE A GOOD CV”. It is important for our intern life in next year. Before Madam said write CV as we can and bring it when you come to PPD session. After that she checked the all CV’s of us and showed what are the mistake that we have done in Our CV’s. Then madam guide us how to write good cv in perfect way.

                                                                                                                                                            

Firstly we have to choose good template for our CV. Please don’t copy with others’ template. It should be very important.

• It is good to make the CV using word processing SW

• Highlight the headings - different font size

• Keep the email as a hyperlink

• Do not mix font styles

• Document should be able to copy and paste

• Maintain the years in one line 

CV should consist with many information.

• Photograph - should be a professional photograph with good dress. (Not with fancy dresses or a selfie) Head and shoulders. At the top right corner.
• Personal Details - Name and address, a phone number, and your email address.
• Personal Profile - A statement about our self, summarizing the skills and carrier interests
• Skills - Soft skills and technical skills
• Educational Qualifications - Write in chronological order a brief list of school and university qualifications, such as O/Ls , A/Ls , etc., together with the grades we obtained. Then list any further qualifications we have obtained, together with the names of the awarding bodies. 
• Projects
• Work Experiences - Start with current or last employer and work backwards. We should include the dates of employment,  job title,  responsibilities, duties and achievements.
• Volunteering, Conferences, Extra curricular activities, Training - Recent activities first.
• References - There is no need to write the details of your referees on your CV. Simply state that they are available on request, but make sure that you know who your referees are and that you have asked their permission to use them.

Last PPD session it was a very interesting event. We enjoyed very well. But there was a something important that we can learn. Firstly we had to find partners (some people already have partners. But I could find a partner just only for event lol ).

Me

One of them should cover him or her eyes and other one should give instructions to go final destination. The path of the final destination, it was very hard. Because madam put some barriers in that way. Instructor cannot touch their partner. He or she can give only instruction to navigate to the destination.

It was very hard game. Because I had a lot of experience. Because I fell down in some barriers. But I knew, how hard when blind people do their works. This is a first round. In second round we had to change our roles between each one.

As well as we can get some important point for our life.

Self-Reflection

In last PPD session madam Sarsi said, you all of you take a selfies, and look at the photo at 5 minute. Then she asked, “What you see” Most of people said “nothing”. I also said See Nothing about me. But if we look into deeply in our self. Everyone has to say something about yourself. After that Miss start to talk about self-reflection. So what is the self-reflection?

Madam gave us brief introduction with good example about self-reflection. So self-reflection is thinking about yourself and judging your own behaviours. It is like looking into mirror. There are some terms in self-reflection, such as strength, weakness, challenges and problems likewise. We have to identify what are the strength, weakness and how overcome our weakness. It is like exploring your life yourself.

People judge about us according to the way that how we are living in society and according to our behaviors. Each people have different perspective about our self. So we have to care those things. But do not depend on those things at all the times or do not make those as a problem to achieve our goals. But maybe there are some bad behaviors in our life. It can be affected to others. So we have to avoid them. I know we cannot be a complete person in our life. But try to be a best person as we can.

In life we have to face so many situation, it can be bad or good. But we have to face those thing, we have to interact with others as a good person. Therefore we need to overcome our mistakes. Always, think and do what you make to climb up to top in our life. So self-reflection is very important thing in our life. It should make your life perfect. THANK YOU !        

Expert game and thread , pen game

Last PPD session we did two interesting game, which are the expert game and thread ,pen game. Both are the group games.  Firstly I would like to talk about expert game.

Firstly we divided into 4 group. Each group has at least 5 or 6 members and everyone had to tell to what their expertise field. Everybody were expertise for something in different fields. Then we had to introduce product that combine using three expertise area in each group. Our group decided to make product using three expertise area which are hand made things, reading and ridding motor bikes. Madam gave us to half and hours to make the product finally we decided to make a “glass cover” . Then we presented  our product to others and they asked some question from us. We could not answer every question because our product is not good combination of expertise area. But madam said out product was good than other group’s product. I think all of us did not get idea correctly about the game. But we tried to make good product as much as we could. 

But we learnt about some good points in this game. How to make a better decision with other ideas and think Creative ideas.

Thread and pen game

Then I would like to talk about thread and pen game. Actually it was a best challenge for us. First madam gave us a pen, thread, cello tape, A4 sheet. She was not going to explain too much about game she just said write a word using which I provided to you. Madam showed a word “VIPER” which we need to write. Then she collected cello tape from each group which gave us. Then we confused, some groups planned to write a word getting help from cello tape. They dropped their idea and think another way.

                                        But our group well planned to write a word using thread and pen. It was a good plan. But it was a little bit hard. Because everyone had to involve to complete this task. Here we bounded pen to thread and each member in our group holding thread to tried drawing a word in A4 sheet.

Here we got the main point is that sometime group work is not easy. We should manged properly. And how to work with changing situation, HOW to use resources properly. Those are , we learnt from this game. Actually it was a very interesting game.

We had a great workshop at last 12^th  of September at WSO2. It was a very interesting event. Workshop started at 9.00 a.m. We could arrive ontime  there. We entered big software company in Sri Lanka. WSO2 company was nice place to work for employs. They provide everything which need for employs. It was  a my second visit of WSO2.

Firstly they introduced what is the Technical Writing. We did not know anything about Technical writing before. They clearly discussed about this. And also they taught how to get opportunity and how to be a technical writer.

And also they taught important grammatically points to us in grammar lab session. Then we did some interesting activities. We divided into group and each group made some one word and they provided some hints which are related to word. Other group had to guess what the correct word is. It was very interesting session.one group could guessed 3 words. They were the winner team.

And also they provided good refreshment for us. We really appreciate their organization and thank for them for organizing such a grate event and thank for your effort Sarasi Madam.

Technologies changing day by day .New things growing up. As SE student we need to know about these things. We had a amazing workshop about "EMERGING TECHNOLOGY TRENDS" by Mr.Srinath Perera VP Research at WSO2 at lasth 3rd of July.

                                 

Firstly he talk about current technologies and emerging technologies. We could get clear idea about these various type of technologies with good example.

 Blockchain

First and foremost, Blockchain is a public electronic ledger that can be openly shared among disparate users and that creates an unchangeable record of their transactions, each one time-stamped and linked to the previous one. Each digital record or transaction in the thread is called a block (hence the name), and it allows either an open or controlled set of users to participate in the electronic ledger. Each block is linked to a specific participant.

Blockchain can only be updated by consensus between participants in the system, and when new data is entered, it can never be erased. The blockchain contains a true and verifiable record of each and every transaction ever made in the system.

      

 Sharing Economy

                             

  

Sharing economy is an umbrella term with a range of meanings, often used to describe economic activity involving online transactions.Originally growing out of the open-source community to refer

to peer-to-peer based sharing of access to goods and services, the term is now sometimes used in a broader sense to describe any sales transactions that are done via online market places, even ones that are business to business  rather than peer-to-peer.  

  Quantum Computing

                   

Quantum Computing in a simple world is a place where Computer theory and Quantum Physics meet. Quantum computing studies theoretical computation systems (quantum computers) that make direct use of quantum-mechanical phenomena, such as #superposition and #entanglement, to perform operations on data.

   3D Printing

         

3D printing has many applications for prototyping consumer products. Take the devices and appliances primarily constructed of plastic that you use every day for example. Many are made by a process known as injection molding. Through the latest advances in 3D printers, prototypes can be manufactured to production model standards, ready to be evaluated by potential customers.

And also they let us to asked some question and gave us WSO2 pens and pen drive.I really appreciate your work and thank you for your effort Srinath Sir and Sarasi Madam.

How to face interview

                                     

           

           

                                                                               Last PPD session we did very interesting discussion about "How to face interview" that more need to us. Becuse next year we will have to get internship.so we have to face more interview from companies.This discussion was a big push to how we face to interview

 We feel stressed as they hear about INTERVIEW. Most of them focus only on the questions to be answered in the Interview. But the interview is the test of not only knowledge but behaviour

and honesty too. It does not matter where you went to University, the number of degrees you may hold, the experience you have or whom you know. It is important do the interview successfully. It is vital to approach interviews in the correct manner and with the right attitude, as that is the key to success.

These tips will help us to stay calm and focused instead of being a nervous wreck. Follow these to remain cool and confident in  interview and so achieve professionalism and be successful.

   Go prepared


                 

01.Search well which we apply company 
                  ➤ firstly we find a correct job which is matching with our qualification
               
                                           

02.prepare to answer common question
                  ➤Though each interview is different,there are some common interview questions and if
                       we prepared for them,half the battle is won.it is good for you.

                                             
03.Prepare to ask at least two questions
                  ➤if we ask some relevant question from them,This shows that you are done research and
                      excited about the position.

                                 

04.Practice with a friend
                  ➤if we want to feel really confident going into that interview,then you may want to                                 practice with a friends.

05.Prepare to explain why you’d be a good fit for the company

06.Prepare to bring everything you need.

Last week in Our ppd session we had to create  a nice story some different way.Firstly we were divided into three groups.

Our task was create meaningful story in a less time without communicating among others.but the rules were all the members  should stand without looking at the white board.then one by one went to the board and wrote a word.but the thing is every one should try to build story depend on previous word .it was difficult task.we had 4 rounds to complete this task.

All groups try to create story.but it was not very 

meaning full one.But It was very interesting event for us .

                                                                                                            After a long time, we attend with an interesting event in ppd session which driven us to our childhood.I think it was a very interesting game.It helped us to give a just relax for our mind in our busy life.   

    

Firstly we were divided into two groups,Then madam provided six A4 size paper each groups. Our task was Make highest number of airplanes fly over the given length but we can use only the given papers and after the given time two members of each group team has to fly those planes.

       

       

                                             

1 st team they made 36 rockets and 23 got over the margin.

2 nd team they made 23 rockets and 18 got over the margin.

Finally 1st team won the game.
